Bears strike first with junior DE

The off-season isn't a break for Pflugerville (Texas) Connally junior defensive end Chase Harper.
His recruiting process has kicked into high gear and he's participating in basketball where he's averaging 21 points a game. Harper has also added his first scholarship offer for football and is just enjoying the early interest.

"Baylor, they've offered me now," Harper said. "That one came last month. LSU, Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma are sending a lot of stuff. They're recruiting me pretty hard too."
As for favorites, Harper didn't hesitate when asked which school was at the top of his list.
"Texas is," Harper said about his current leader. "I've just been watching them ever since I was a little kid."
Since starting as a sophomore, Harper has made a name for himself. He earned all-district honors as a junior.
Harper also added that the difference between this year and his first season on varsity is his ability.
"This year I just got bigger and faster," Harper said. "I've been working on improving my strength, so that has gone up too. I just get off the ball quickly. That and I do whatever the coach tells me to do so I can get better."
Currently participating in basketball tournaments, Harper says that he's unsure if he'll play both sports at the next level. Connally lost in the first round of the football playoffs this year to New Braunfels.
