Bears score huge

Defensive tackle standout Brandon Mebane (6-1, 260, 4.7) from Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw has decided to cast his lot with Jeff Tedford and the Cal Bears.
“It was a tough decision I have decided on Cal.

Mebane visited three schools and all three trips went off just fine. He visited Cal (November 22nd), Oregon (December 6th) and Washington (December 13th).
But Cal was just a little bit more special.
“I like the academic support at Cal and the coaching,” Mebane said. “That is why I chose Cal.
“I saw the coaching staff under a game situation and I liked what I saw. I think Cal is going to do something special and I want to be part of it.”
Mebane has tremendous up field push and fought through double teams to rack up 14 sacks. To put that type of heat on a quarterback from the inside will make your pass defense be a lot better.
UCLA still has a slim shot at Mebane and he will know more after he meets with new Bruin head coach Karl Dorrell.
The Bears have been one of the Pac 10 conference’s surprise teams of this recruiting season.
