Bears score another good one

The following report that was posted last August 13 was as much about Cal as it was about the Bears latest verbal Chris Henry.
This is what we wrote:
One of the reasons that Cal fans have much to look forward to is the Bears are recruiting under new head coach Jeff Tedford and company. The Bears are doing their homework and are getting in on guys before they become marquee recruits.
Sounds harmoniously familiar to the way the Oregon Ducks have done things for years. There is no question that Tedford has an eye for talent, if he can translate the same instincts to the field and there is no reason to think that he won’t, long suffering Bear fans will finally have something to roar about.
Most Bear fans agree a 45-year hibernation is a long time. That’s the last time the Bears played in the Rose Bowl on January 1st. That’s a long sleep.
Those yawns you hear may be the big bad Bears waking from a long slumber. So far this season Cal has received pledges from six of Pac10Recruiting top 100 prospects from California.
Tedford and company recently offered a player who may end up as biggest sleeper in the Golden State before this recruiting season is over. The Bears have tendered an offer to Chris Henry (6-1, 225, 4.4) from Stockton (Calif.) Edison.
The Bears offered Henry as an athlete prospect.
You are probably asking yourself, why is he a sleeper, with that size and speed what is the deal, why doesn’t he have the offers that his teammates Lynell Hamilton and Rueben Jackson has?
The answer is, simply, he was hurt and missed the entire season with quad injury. He is now back and obviously at full speed.
Henry has the area’s best 100-meter time with a smoking 10.4. At his size, or any size, that is moving.
In an earlier interview with Pac10Recruiting Edison head coach Booker Guyton said, “Before it’s all said and done, Chris is going to get the same recruiting action that Lynell and Rueben are getting,” Guyton said. “We expect big things out of Chris this season.”
The scouting report on Henry is that he is super fast with power. He will play outside linebacker for Edison and see some time as a running back. Henry has the talent level and versatility to play either position on the next level.
The Wolfpack of Nevada has also offered this stellar athlete. If Henry plays up to his coach’s expectations then there will be a stampede of recruiters heading to the Henry household.
That was in August, now hot on the heels of one of the Bears most impressive wins the Bears land super sleeper Chris Henry. It will be players like Henry that will help Tedford achieve his lofty goals.
This commit has to be considered a soft pledge because the word on the street is he may take visits and there is one school in particular that Henry has his eye on.
Great get for the Bears, but this one is still worth watching.
You have to be excited if you’re a Bear fan, things are looking good in Berkeley…
