Bears land two-way standout

The Cal Bears received an offer from one NorCal's best two-way players this weekend. Getting players of this guys caliber will keep the Bears near the top of the Pac 10.
The player in question is Isaac Leatiota (6-4, 295, 4.85) from Santa Clara (Calif.) Wilcox.

Leatiota comes from a family with great athletic bloodlines. He is cousins with Hawai'i Warrior players Samson Satele, Hercules Satele and incoming freshman Brashton Satele.
Leatiota committed to the Bears after getting his offer week ago Saturday during Cal's junior day.
"We talked to Coach (Jeff) Tedford yesterday and committed," Jimmy Satele, Leatiota's Uncle said. "Isaac decided to get it over with so he can concentrate on his studies and his senior season.
"Cal had a great environment with outstanding academics and it's close to home," Leatiota said. "It is a good school and I'm glad to be part of it."
"When I went to Cal for junior day it just clicked for me," Leatiota said. "When they offered me I was so excited that words can't describe it."
"I just wanted to shout," Leatiota said. "It was one of the best things that ever happened to me in my life."
The Bears recruited Leatiota as a lineman who could end up playing on either side of the ball.
In an earlier interview with Rivals.com Wilcox coach Woody Freitas said the following about his young lineman,
"Isaac is one of the quickest big guys I have ever seen," Freitas said. "When we cut him lose he's impossible to handle one-on-one."
"We ran a pretty base defense last year," Freitas said. "This season we are going to put him in fronts that will better showcase his talent, speed and overall quickness."
"Isaac is a much disciplined player and very coachable," Freitas said. "He also has a nasty streak on the field but is a great young man off the field."
Bear fans will get a chance to see Leatiota up close when he participates at the NIKE Camp to be held in Palo Alto next month.
UCLA USC, Arizona, Oregon, Oregon State and Nebraska are just a sampling of the schools that were showing sincere recruiting interest in Leatiota.
The scouting report on Leatiota is he is very strong and explosive. On the offensive side of the ball he is brutally mean and pancakes all in his way. On the defensive side of the ball he can't be handled by one player.
