Beach looking for opportunity

At 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, Dallas (Texas) W.T. White wide receiver Michael Beach is a big pass-catching target with a lot of upside. As a senior, Beach had limited opportunities to show his abilities as a wide receiver and consequently, he has had limited college opportunities as well.
"I've got a couple of Division II schools," Beach said of his recruitment. "I've got a visit to MNU and I'm in the works with Angelo State but I haven't heard much from them. I was talking to Baylor for a while."

After catching 27 passes for 516 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior, Beach has had less opportunities in 2008 to show what he can do.
"Last year, my junior year was a good strong solid season," he said. "This year I got moved to an H-back, tight end type position and I wasn't used to it and it really limited my receptions. I only had 4-6 yards per catch and 4 touchdowns."
Despite the altered role, Beach has taken it in stride. During his career, Beach has played quarterback, wide receiver, free safety and tight end and is always looking for a way to help his team.
Beach is hoping to do the same on the next level. Lately, Baylor has become a possibility as a walk-on.
"The Baylor thing, he's talking about if I couldn't afford it I could go to one of their prep schools or junior colleges that they set up but that's still a later option," he said. "I just want to play ball. D-I is my dream. I thought I could do it last year."
Due to his size and frame, Beach could grow into a tight end but he has his own opinion as to where he stands position-wise.
"I think I'm a wide receiver. I'm running track and I've worked on my speed. I think I'm more of a wide receiver."
