Beach kicker is gaining interest

Recruiting is rising for Virginia Beach (Va.) Cox kicker Seth Pekoe. The 6-foot-0, 180-pounder is starting to get interest from a number of schools including a handful of regional Division I programs.
"I was at East Carolina this past weekend," he said. "I'm hearing from West Virginia, James Madison, Elon and North Carolina.

"East Carolina was interesting this weekend. The coaches knew who I was and I liked East Carolina, but they lost the game. It's a pretty good program. I like the fact a lot of people from my high school go there, it's a name school."
West Virginia is hot on Pekoe's tail as they have ties to him.
"That was my dad's alma mater, I really like West Virginia," he said. "I went to camp there and the Maryland game. I'm supposed to go back this weekend for their last game. I've been keeping in touch with Coach Beatty.
"I like the coaches there, they seem really professional and it seems like a good family to be in. They are a successful football team and program."
On the field this season, Pekoe averaged 40-yards a punt and made 6-of-10 field goals with a long of 51-yards. He hit 50% of his kickoffs for touchbacks.
"I was first team all-Beach punter and second team all-Beach kicker," he said. "I think I can do both well. My punts are good; I had about 50% of my punts go inside the 20. I'm really consistent with my field goals too."
