BC gets first commitment

The Boston College Eagles have their first commitment of the 2004 recruiting season.
"I committed tonight," said 6-foot-5, 240-pound defensive end Jerry Willette from Mansfield, Mass. "I spoke to coach (Dana) Bible and told him I'm coming."

BC was the first school to offer Willette while Syracuse, Iowa and Michigan were in pursuit as well. Willette visited Boston College on Tuesday and knew it felt right.
"I've always liked BC," he said. "My Dad loves it there, my Mom really liked it on the visit and they've always been my favorite. When they offered me, I almost committed but I wanted to make sure. Now I'm sure."
As a junior Willette came up with 36 tackles, nine tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles and five pass breakups as a defensive end. He is considered the top player in the state of Massachusetts this year.
