Boston College could be close to offering one of the region's top quarterbacks from 2013.
Rutgers has already extended a verbal offer to Christopher Laviano, a junior quarterback from Hicksville (N.Y.) Holy Trinity.
"I've taken an unofficial visit to Rutgers," he began. "Actually, I've been to Rutgers so many times for camps and stuff. I really like it up there."
BC may be the second school to offer.
"I've thrown in front of Boston College and they really like me. Coach (Dave) Brock keeps tabs on me all the time. In fact, this was the third day in a row that I've gotten a letter from him. He writes me a lot and I threw great up there. If I had to predict they'll be the next to offer."
If that happens the 6-foot-2, 200-pound quarterback will be excited.
"I like BC a lot," he continued. "They have great facilities and great coaches. Really, the facilities are all pretty much the same. Any big-time college is going to have a nice stadium and facilities.
"I like the coaches and the offensive coordinator. He's from the NFL and has a lot of experience. They run a pro-style offense and they had Matt Ryan."
Penn State, Wisconsin, TCU, Oregon, Notre Dame and Alabama are some of the other schools that have expressed early interest in Laviano.
"They're all pretty much the same," he said, when asked whether he has any favorites. "I'm interested in seeing who approaches me and I'd like to try to get more interest. I'm educated on the colleges but not as educated as I'd like to be.
"This fall I'm going to try to get out to Penn State if I can."
Holy Trinity had a scrimmage last Saturday and their first game this weekend.
