Baylor first to offer talented Texas TE

With schools from Notre Dame to UCLA pursuing him, Deer Park, Texas, tight end Justin Akers first offer came from Baylor University.
“I had a great time at Baylor’s Junior Day,” he said. “I’m going to go to their one-day camp and will probably get there a day early and see the campus. I don’t really have a favorite yet, and I plan on waiting it out through the process and taking several visits.”

Akers (6-5, 225-pounds) – a 4.1 grade-point-average student – is also receiving interest from Houston. He will be playing seven-on-seven this summer and attending camps, while preparing for his senior season under a new head coach.
“Our new coach has more of a running philosophy than last year,” he said. “I have a feeling that I will be doing more run-blocking next year. I like to catch the ball, but I think our team will be better next season, which will be worth it.”
