Bayless fielding new interest

MONTGOMERY, Ala - Omar Bayless talks more about what might happen that what has taken place already. The situation is understandable. You can see why the Laurel (Miss.) High School receiver is excited.
The offers he holds from Southern Miss, Louisiana Monroe and Memphis are fine offers. He's considering all of them actually. It's just that what he thinks might be on the horizon has given him pause.

"Auburn and Missouri are my favorites," Bayless said. "They are telling me they're gonna offer soon, but haven't done it."
And so the 6-foot-2 receiver waits. Bayless says he thinks Missouri is particularly close to making things official with an offer. And coming of an Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game performance that saw him catch four passes for 37 yards, he's hoping he hears something soon.
His homework on the Tigers is done, after all.
"I've been watching them play," Bayless said on Tuesday. "They have those big, tall receivers. I'm pretty much like there. I talked to them last night actually. That was, like, the third time I've talked to them."
Missouri wide receivers coach =Pat Washington is handling Bayless' recruitment for the Tigers. And while it's still early in the process, a bond between player and coach has already formed.
"He tells me he's from the South," Bayless aid of Washington. "He's from Mobile Alabama, so he can relate to me."
Bayless both Auburn and Minnesota are also "on the verge" of extending scholarship offers, and while things with the in-state Tigers seem like a long shot for Bayless at this point, he says he is interested in visiting Minnesota should an offer from the Gophers arrive.
"I just know it's pretty cold up there in Minnesota," Bayless said. "But the coaches sent me clips of how it is up there and it's real nice up there. I want to visit."
As a senior at state champion Laurel, Bayless caught 61 passes for 1,409 and 17 touchdowns.
