Bay area flyer has right stuff

There are certain things that football coaches can't teach. Size is one as well as athleticism, but perhaps the deadliest component on a football is quickness and speed.
Running back/cornerback Thomas Reynolds (5-10, 170, 4.5) from San Jose (Calif.) Archbishop Mitty has what is called football speed.

While playing mostly running back for Mitty, Reynolds accounted for 919 yards rushing while scoring 10 rushing touchdowns, He also had 21 receptions for 242 yards receiving and 208 kickoff return yards.
Reynolds was only used as a cornerback in certain situations when his team wanted to play man to man and to put pressure on the opposition.
In his limited opportunities, Reynolds ended with two interceptions and one fumble recovery.
Reynolds was selected his league's Junior of the Year and was all-league.
"Thomas has a great ability to see the whole field and that is one of the most important things a running back can possess," former Archbishop coach Dave Brown said. "He also has great hands and that makes him even more valuable.
"Thomas is very versatile who could end up playing running back or cornerback and return kicks on the D-I level," Brown said. "He is has tough as they come and isn't afraid to catch the ball over the middle.
"There is no substitute for speed," Brown said. "He's working hard in the off-season. Though he's running track, he still finds his way to the weight room.
In the weight room, Reynolds currently benches 235, squats 300 and cleans 200. He has also recorded a 35-inch vertical jump.
