Battle sees UCF, getting new attention

Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage defensive back Dominique Battle took an unofficial visit to Central Florida this past weekend and came away impressed with what he saw from the Golden Knights.
"(UCF assistant coach) Joe Gilbert just saw my film last Thursday and invited me up to UCF's spring game on Saturday," Battle said. "He gave me a tour of the facilities. So far, they have the best facilities that I have seen. Everything is new and they also have a new stadium being built for next season. I also got to meet the head coach, George O'Leary

"Coach O'Leary and Coach Gilbert are coming to see me practice in May."
The 6-foot, 165-pounder also recently visited Miami.
"Last weekend, I went to the Miami spring game," he said. "Coach Jeff Stoutland (Battle's recruiter) invited me up and he introduced me to defensive back coach, coach Wesley McGriff. Coach Stoutland is good friends with our defensive coordinator at my high school and he's going to come this spring and watch me play."
Battle enjoyed his time at the spring game, but did not get to check out as much of the university as he would have liked.
"I didn't get to see much at the spring game, but the coaches seem cool and the location is good," he said. "It's not too far from home. I didn't grow up a Miami fan. I didn't like one particular team. My dad is an Ohio State alum, so I grew up watching them every Saturday."
Battle also has been getting increased interest from a Big East program.
"I've been getting text messages from Pittsburgh," he said. "(Panthers assistant) coach Charlie Partridge has been texting me."
