Bateman talks about his switch

Arizona State is rolling on and off the field. This past weekend, the Sun Devils tripped in Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw receiver Kemonte Bateman and the former UCLA commit is now headed to Tempe.
There isn't a better receiver out West in our eyes than Bateman. The MVP of the SoCal NIKE Camp is a big time talent and after taking his visit to ASU this past weekend, the athlete has had a change of heart.
"I'm a Sun Devil and I'm so excited right now," Bateman. "There was so many things that went in to it, I really can't just pin point it and say it was only one or two. I mean, for one, I just love the atmosphere and the overall feel I got while I was on my trip.
"The stadium and the game atmosphere was electric there and that's something I haven't experienced before. Socially, I think it's a better fit because I've lived in Los Angeles for awhile now and I think it would be good for me to get out and experience something new. I liked Tempe a lot, it's so laid back and I think it's just a better fit for me.
"From a football standpoint, I love that offense and the way ASU plays. They get the ball down the field and have a lot of playmakers. Coach Erickson is a great coach, one of the best in the game and I can't wait to play for him.
"I had also developed a good relationship with coach Yarber, the receiver coach there and I'm very comfortable with him. It's going to be hard to tell Coach Scott at UCLA that I'm going elsewhere since he was like a mentor to me but I really think he'll understand.
"Coach Scott has always cared more about me as a person than a football player and I think he'll understand. For me, this was just a better decision in every way and I think once he sees that, he'll be happy for me.
"This is the only trip I'll take, there is no need for me to look around elsewhere. I know I can't find a better fit for me than ASU so there is no point in me even trying. I'm very excited to be going to ASU and can't wait to get there nex year."
