Batch still committed after Duke visit

Midland, Texas running back and Texas Tech commit Baron Batch is continuing his visits away from the school he pledged to back in May. Northwestern received the first official visit and this past weekend Batch took in the scenery at Duke.
Apparently, with academics a high priority, the 5-foot-10, 190-pound three-star Lone Star player was looking at schools that put grades first. With Batch feeling the same way, he enjoyed both trips. However, Texas Tech still sits atop his list.
"Duke was a good trip overall," Batch said. "We just hung out with some of the players, went around, they showed me the campus, and I got to meet the coaches. There really wasn't a favorite part, it was all really good. Right now, I'd say they're right behind Texas Tech."

Batch reiterates that his point in taking other visits was just to see what other colleges had to offer him.
"Academics is pretty important and of course everyone knows that Duke and Northwestern are great academic schools," Batch said. "But, depending on what you want to study, I could get just as good of a degree at Texas Tech. Since I haven't decided what to study, that factor is all up in the air."
"But to me, academics are very important and even more important than football."
Batch says that he has no other trips at this time other than his official visit to Texas Tech which looks to take place on Jan. 14.
He is rated as the No. 31 running back in the country.
