Baskin names leaders for his officials

Wide receiver Andrey Baskin out of Camden (N.J.) Woodrow Wilson has scheduled two official visits so far to North Carolina State and Tennessee. Why did he choose those schools and who else is in the running for his other visits?
"I chose them because they are nice programs at both schools," he said. "They both have nice coaches and a nice player-coach relationship. If I go to either of them, I also might have a chance to play as a freshman."

How important is it for the 6-foot-4, 192-pounder with 4.45-second speed to play early?
"It's really important to me and I want to see the field as soon as I get there," he said. "I'm working on my speed, technique and I want to be more physical and bigger for the next level."
The other schools in the running for his last three officials right now are Iowa, Syracuse, California, Ohio State and Florida.
"California has just started recruiting me like two months ago. They've been sending me mail and stuff came to my school. They've got a really nice academic program there and they run and pass the ball evenly," he said. "Everybody knows about Ohio State and they've got a nice athletic and academic program. Words can't explain enough about Ohio State.
"I have been hearing a lot from Florida lately. They've been telling me a lot about their school and how they do things through handwritten letters and stuff."
Currently, Baskin's top five has Iowa, Tennessee, North Carolina State, Ohio State and Syracuse leading the rest.
The No. 6 prospect in New Jersey is planning to take all five of his visits during and after the season. He then plans to commit on Signing Day.
The Rivals 250 prospect has big expectations for himself and his team.
"I'm looking forward to winning the state championship and I also want to catch over four interceptions and eight touchdowns," he said. "I'm looking to be a leader through my hard work and then I'll do all of that and go on to college from there."
A few other schools that continue to pursue the Baskin include Maryland, Southern Cal and Michigan. Where do they stand?
"I'm still looking at them, but I'm not looking at them as much as my favorites."
Baskin was named all-conference last year as he caught 31 receptions and eight touchdowns.
