Baskin discusses Syracuse commitment

Four-star wide receiver Andrey Baskin ended all speculation Sunday after months of favoring Syracuse he finally gave them his committment. The 6-foot-3, 192-pounder picked the Orangemen over offers from Tennessee, Ohio State, North Carolina State and others.
"I called up coach Robinson yesterday and he was really excited when I told him I was committing," he said. "In the end, I picked Syracuse because I felt like I bonded really well with the coaches and players on my visit. I also was very impressed with the campus too."

Two coaches from Syracuse had a big impact in helping them land Baskin.
"Coach White and Russ are both great guys," he said. "They helped draw me there because both of them are down to earth people and they really knew how to talk to me."
The No. 32 wide receiver in the country has a shot to see the field as early as next year.
"The coaches have told me I've definitely got a chance to play if I do what I have to do," he said. "I plan to run track and lift weights the next six months to get ready. I'm really hoping to improve on my speed a lot before I get there too because I feel I can be a playmaker and a leader on the field for them."
Baskin is relieved to finally have the decision behind him.
"It feels really good to be done with recruiting. Now I feel like a free man."
