Baseball still option No. 1 for QB

Anaheim (Calif.) Servite quarterback Dan Klein had scholarship offers on the table from Cal, UNLV and Washington State, but it was an offer from UCLA that caused him to make a major change of plans.
The offer from the Bruins was for baseball, and it's one he quickly snagged up, making an oral commitment to play on the diamond for UCLA. However, as the summer has drug along, Klein said there is a slim chance he might not be ready to totally give up his gridiron dreams just yet.

"I committed to UCLA a while back and I think baseball is what I see myself doing in the future," Klein, who is 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, said. "I haven't ruled out football yet. I'm doing the Elite 11 in Vegas on Saturday and we'll see how everything goes. If I said right now I'd say I'm just going to play baseball."
Even with that, it's not stopped teams from continuing to recruit him.
"I'm hearing from pretty much all of the teams in the Pac 10 along with Boston College and Utah," he said. "Cal, Washington State, UNLV and Utah have offered me scholarships, but right now I'm sticking to my commitment to UCLA for baseball.
"I've just been enjoying the dead period. We'll have three weeks to relax before we get back into football."
Klein might have another option on the table, too, to think about – Major League Baseball. A right-handed pitcher, Klein has a fastball that consistently is in the 92-mph range and a deadly curve ball. He went 7-1 as a junior with a 1.40 ERA in 55 innings.
