Size and Speed: Boston is a 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds. This spring at the Miami Nike camp, he was timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.6 seconds. He shouldn’t have any problem qualifying with a 3.3 grade point average and he’s set to take the SAT test in June.
Honors: Boston was selected to the first team all-Lakeland Ledger.
Statistics Boston estimated to having approximately 12-15 sacks as a junior.
Favorites: Boston list Florida State, Miami, Florida, Alabama, Tulane and Stanford as his early favorites. He grew up a Florida State fan, but at this time in the recruiting process, he’s open to all teams on his list.
Skinny: Bartow, Fla., is the home of one of the most athletic players in the state of Florida. Recruiting fans might not have heard Alex Boston’s name yet, but they will soon. He has already received many hand-written letters from all over the Southeast.
With his outstanding frame and speed, Boston could turn into your prototypical defensive All-American. This past year as a junior, he terrorized the backfields of Polk county teams by racking up an approximate of 12-15 sacks. “My strength is my ability to get to the quarterback,” Boston said.
Boston not only is an excellent player on the gridiron, he’s an outstanding player on the baseball diamond. Last year as a sophomore, he had a 329 batting average, six home runs and 11 stolen bases. Baseball will definitely be one of his most important factors in choosing a college. “I’m going to pick a school that will allow me to play both sports,” Boston said. Pretty much all of the baseball programs in the south are writing me.”
Will professional baseball be an option? “Some people have told me that I could play there,” Boston said. “But, my mother told me that I’m going to college to get an education first.”
Boston’s summer plans are full. This June he’ll take the SAT Test and he plans stops at the Florida State, Georgia and Tulane football camps.
