Barrows pulls the trigger

Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern running back/safety C.J. Barrows (6-3, 195, 4.55) has reached a decision.
“I committed to Southern Miss,” said Barrows. “When I went on my official visit (December 19) I just loved it and my mom did too. Southern Miss was just really the best fit for me.”

Rated as the nation’s No. 23 safety prospect, the Eagles have other plans for Barrows.
“They offered me as a running back. They told me that I could come in right away and contribute and I probably wouldn’t red-shirt. Right now I would consider myself a soft verbal. I’m open to other schools and could take some other visits.”
Barrows had offers from plenty of big time programs and more have recently started showing interest.
“Mississippi State has started recruiting me pretty hard since the new staff came in over there, but they haven’t offered yet. Georgia was also talking to me again for a little while, they told me that if Sean Jones went to the NFL that I may be hearing more from them. He left and I haven’t heard from them, I think Ramarcus Brown from Tri-cities committed to them or something and that’s why the didn’t call back.”
As a senior Barrows rushed for 1,520 yards and 14 touchdowns.
“Coach (Jay) Johnson recruited me for Southern Miss and he’s a real cool guy. He was real excited when I told him that I committed.”
