Barr is ready for first official visit

Washington (D.C.) Coolidge wide receiver Martize Barr plans to take his first official visit this weekend. Where is the 5-foot-11, 182-pounder headed?
"I have an official set with New Mexico for this Friday, December 4th," he said. "I don't really know too much about New Mexico. I want to see everything and see what the area looks like to see if I can live down there for four years. I want to get to know the coaches because I might be playing with them for four years."

Following the trip, Barr intends to set up another visit.
"Once I get back I'm probably going to set up a trip to Rutgers," he said. "I've gone up there twice and I really liked it. I love the way Coach Schiano is running that program and they've still got a shot."
A few other teams continue to monitor the two-star prospect.
"Tennessee got my film and they liked what they've seen," he said. "Iowa is also evaluating me too."
Is there a leader for Barr?
"I'm liking New Mexico," he said. "The main reason why is they'll give me a chance to play. It's not guaranteed, but it's a legit chance of playing as a freshman and I like the coaches, Coach Locksley is from D.C. and knows what it takes to make it out of here and the struggles I go through. He can relate to me."
Barr recently earned all-league honors for the season.
