Barney knows three visits

Miami (Fla.) Northwestern offensive lineman Christopher Barney has been very shy about naming a leader or even favorites thus far in the recruiting process. He has offers from just about every school imaginable and three seem to have the inside track.
“I still have not set up any official visits yet,” Barney said. “I also haven’t narrowed it down to a final five yet either. At this point I’m still not really eliminating anyone. I know that Rutgers, NC State and Miami are going to get official visits for sure though.”

The Florida Gators are one school that have been associated with Barney’s name in the past, do they still have a shot?
“Florida is a school that I wasn’t really considering the much lately,” Barney said. “I hated to hear about coach Zook getting fired. I really like the way that he has kept his team up and will coach them the rest of the season. I got to know him a little bit and the way he has handled all of this shows you what kind of person he is. I wouldn’t say that Florida is totally out of it, but they aren’t close to the top of my list at all.”
Rivals.com ranks the 6-foot-6, 330-pounder as the No. 56 player in the senior class regardless of position. He runs the 40-yard dash in 5.2 seconds and bench presses 385 pounds. As a junior he had 64 pancake blocks and did not allow a sack.
“I am probably going to wait until the season is over to start taking my official visits,” Barney said. “Right now I am just trying to help my team win a state championship.”
