Barnett pleased with commitment

Blake Barnett saw a bevy of top programs visit his school last week but the Corona (Calif.) Santiago four-star quarterback said he still plans to stick with his Notre Dame commitment.
Still, it was a hectic week for Barnett, rated as the fourth-best dual-threat quarterback in the 2015 class by Rivals.com. He's been committed to the Irish since late November.

"It's been a pretty crazy one," Barnett said.
"I actually didn't talk to any schools but the big ones that came out were USC, Texas A&M, UCLA, Texas Tech, Michigan State, those are the top ones I can think of."
Getting so much attention at his school was a surprise to Barnett, who said he has really not been communicating with any top programs in a while.
Since his Notre Dame commitment, things have slowed down but there's no doubt other programs remain interested in him. Barnett said he has no second thoughts about his pledge.
"They haven't been really recruiting me," Barnett said.
"I haven't talked to schools really at all recently. It seems like teams are starting to back off. I still get the occasional mail from everyone but not really any personal contact."
It looks like Barnett's pledge is as firm as ever. The four-star is planning to visit South Bend after he competes at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge in Baltimore and he's looking forward to talking more with the coaches and meeting up with some fellow commits.
"I'm excited," Barnett said.
"It should be fun. I get to train with my coaches up there and I get to meet some of the other commits as well in person that I've been communicating with. I'll get to see them as well."
