Jalin Barnett's newest scholarship offer isn't really new at all.
The four-star offensive lineman has had an offer from Oklahoma State for some time. It's just that he didn't know about it until recently. These things happen early in the recruiting process. Whatever the case, the situation has been rectified.
"Apparently, OSU offered me a while back, but I didn't know," Barnett said. "So we talked and made it official pretty recently."
The next step is a visit. Barnett, the No. 32-ranked player in the 2015 class will tour Oklahoma State on Jan. 26. He plans to follow that up with a visit to Oklahoma on Feb. 1, and is in the process of planning more travel.
For now, though, the in-state schools are the only destinations on his list.
"OU and OSU are the only ones I have set up right now," Barnett said. "Other ones would be nice, but I haven't talk to anyone to set them up really."
His agenda functions as a rough draft for now. He plans to take visit and attend some camps, but says it's too early to discuss the wheres and whens. He does, however, have two stops in mind.
"I really want to check out Alabama and Auburn," Barnett said. "I really want to see those two schools."
Barnett, who grew up cheering for Oklahoma State, says he will not let childhood allegiances steer his recruitment. Instead, he's in search of a feeling. He's in search of chemistry.
"It's hard to explain it," Barnett said. "I'm just looking for good teammates and coaches. It's about those relationships. It's about how it feels."
A junior at Oklahoma's Lawton High School, is the No. 1-ranked 2015 player in the state. He currently holds nine scholarship offers.
