Barnett heading to Samford
Niceville (Fla.) athlete Alex Barnett will play college football in the state of Alabama.
"I committed to Samford," Barnett said. "I went on a visit there this past weekend and loved it. The coaches from UAB are at Samford now and they decided to offer me."

He will get a first look on defense for the Bulldogs.
"I'll be at cornerback first, but I'll be considered an athlete, because I'll get to work at other positions," Barnett said.
There were several aspects of the school that stood out to Barnett.
"The academics at Samford stood out more than anything, it's a great school," he said. " (Samford head coach) Pat Sullivan sold me on it. He's a big name and has some serious power at a school on the rise. Plus, it's close to home and the new facilities they are building will be nice."
Barnett, who participated in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association North-South All-Star game, is a two-star rated prospect by Rivals.com.
