One of the top quarterbacks in attendance at the recent Huntington Beach (Calif.) Edison passing tournament was Los Alamitos (Calif.) Jimmy Barnes. Barnes, 6-5, 225 pounds had a solid showing at the camp and could be closing in on making a decision.

Barnes is a big, strong pocket passer with plus arm strength and accuracy. He can throw any pass and combines great touch with as much zip as he needs to complete the pass. As a junior, the signal caller completed 155-265 passes (59%) for 2,346 yards and 20 touchdowns and with a host of talented receivers back this season, should at least duplicate those numbers.
Barnes has offers from Alabama and Colorado State and the buzz around the passing tournament was a commitment to the Tide could be imminent. Barnes camped at Alabama a few weeks ago where he reportedly was hounded all week by head coach Mike Shula and the Barnes family really loved the family atmosphere in Tuscaloosa.
