Banks an emerging Detroit prospect

Detroit wide receiver Brandon Banks has seen his fair share of change in the last year, and those changes have significantly impacted his ability to be recruited. The 6-2, 195-pound prospect played sparingly as a junior for Detroit's Henry Ford Academy, then suffered a coaching change this off-season.
"Last year I really didn't play much because my mom had transferred me to another school," Banks reported. "Then, when we moved up to Detroit I could only play the last game of the season. I played the last regular season game and then the playoffs. In the games I did play I had six catches for 348 and two touchdowns."

Now, Banks will endure another major change because he and his family decided this week he will attend Detroit's Southwestern School for his senior season.
Despite major recruitment-altering changes, several colleges have still managed to find Banks. He has seen coaches from Bowling Green, Toledo, Michigan State and Illinois in his school this spring and he is also hearing from UCLA, Notre Dame and Iowa via the mail.
Banks does not hold any scholarship offers, but he feels if any team could be close to offering it would be Toledo.
"I was talking to the (Toledo) recruiter from my area and he was talking about how he liked my footwork and he said to keep in contact with him," Banks said.
Banks also hopes appearances at summer camps will help him procure a few scholarship offers. So far he has plans to camp at Bowling Green, Toledo and Wayne State.
Banks runs a 4.5 40-yard dash and possesses a 34-inch vertical. He also said he is on track to qualify through the NCAA Clearinghouse.
