Bama UGA host 2017 R100 RB McFarland

Among the many visitors at Alabama and Georgia last week was 2017 Rivals100 running back Anthony McFarland from Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha. He has a long way to go before he announces a commitment but both schools put their best foot forward.
"It was nice at Georgia," said the 5-foot-8, 185-pound McFarland. "I got the same feeling as last time. I'm not thinking about committing right now. I'll probably wait until after my five official visits and then go from there. The coaches were good. Every time I go there they always show me love. That's why I like going down there because the coaches always have that family atmosphere. I've been to a lot of camps and I've never seen one so intense like that. There was a lot of competition and a lot of good players. I think I only lost once.

"Alabama was great," he said. "I've never seen a facility like that. I definitely see why they're one of the top programs in the country. The way they do things down there, it's all business. It was great being in the stadium and everything too. I was mainly with coach Aazaar for the most time. On my last day I spoke with Nick Saban. I was surreal meeting him. I was star struck a little bit listening to everything he was saying about how he liked my film. He was just talking about stuff other than football like life and family."
The rich running back tradition at each of these schools is a major draw for McFarland.
"I feel like Georgia and Alabama, if I go to either one of them, could make me successful," McFarland said. "They are basically 'RBU' and that makes a big impact on me because they've had so many great running backs come out of those schools."
At this point, McFarland does not have plans to visit any schools until he sees Michigan after the upcoming season.
