Bama commit gets a peek at the future

MIAMI--Pensacola, Fla., offensive lineman Michael Johnson may quite literally be the biggest man on the field for the Florida team this week during CaliFlorida Bowl. He was somewhat of a sleeper prospect at the time he gave his commitment to Mike Shula and the University of Alabama over the summer , but is commitment is still firm?
"I am taking my visit to Alabama on January 14 and that is the only one that I am planning on taking," Johnson said. "I am firmly committed to Alabama and I'm not looking around at any other schools, in fact, I was planning on doing a little recruiting of my own this weekend for Alabama. I am going to be talking to Fred Rouse some this week. It may not make a bit of difference, but it never hurts to try."

The 6-foot-6, 290-pound Johnson describes himself as a quick footed agile lineman and not the "road grater" type, but you can bet when it comes time to bully guys around Johnson is a good man for the job.
"Today in practice I was playing offensive tackle and Cole Harvey (who is also an Alabama commitment) was playing guard," Johnson said. "It was pretty neat to look over at him and know that it will be like this for the next several years.
I got to meet another Bama commitment, Clarence Ward down here yesterday so that was pretty cool. I am also hoping to Prince Hall from the California team, who is also a commitment sometime this week, but it will probably be after the game on Sunday."
