Balducci gaining more attention

Alex Balducci has four offers from Oregon, Washington, Boise State and Oregon State and the Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic defensive end is still taking his time with recruiting.
The 6-foot-4 prospect doesn't plan to have a decision made until late summer.

"He told me the other day he'd like to have a decision made before the start of the season," Central Catholic coach Steve Pyne said.
"What I told him was to take in all this information and go through the summertime and gather up what you need to gather up and make a decision if that's how you want to do it. He has a pretty open mind and I'm sure other people will come on board."
Oregon and Washington are considered two early favorites for Balducci, who shined at the Eugene NIKE Camp last spring, but Pyne said it's been really busy in the Central Catholic halls with college coaches stopping by and it's supposed to get even more hectic next week.
Oregon State, Arizona State, Boise State and Idaho have already visited and Oregon, Cal, Washington and Utah are supposed to stop in soon.
"It's been pretty active," Pyne said. "It's been busy. If he was pressed he would probably be in the Northwest because those are the offers that have come in but he still has an open mind."
The 6-foot-4 prospect who's rated No. 178 in the 2012 class by Rivals.com is bulking up in the weight room, too.
Pyne said Balducci probably weighs around 270 pounds which means he might be able to slide inside and play some defensive tackle. He could also play offensive guard.
"He's big," Pyne said. "He's working really hard in the weight room and he just qualified for the state meet in the shot put. He's doing well."
