Bakersfield QB heads to the MAC

Bakersfield (Calif.) Bakersfield City College junior college quarterback Thomas Peregrin put up some impressive numbers as a sophomore. His 2,700 yards passing and 28 touchdowns was enough to get looks from all over the place, but after looking far and wide he's decided to head to the MAC.
"I just got an offer from Western Michigan, and I committed to them," Peregrin, who is 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, said. "They've been on me since the beginning. The quarterback situation is also one of two things. They're either going to have a senior coming back after earning a medical redshirt, and I'd have to compete with him. Or he won't get the redshirt and then I will have a good shot at playing early.

"Either way it's an ideal situation for a guy like me to come in there and compete for a spot right away."
Peregrin, who earned honorable mention All-America honors as a sophomore, said he was recruited by Western Michigan coach Tim Lester.
"Coach Lester was a real cool guy," Peregrin said. "He's a young guy that I can relate with easily."
Peregrin was also recruited by Wyoming, SMU and Toledo.
