Cleveland (Ohio) Benedictine athlete Jerome Baker had a good feel for Penn State early in his recruitment, and following a weekend visit to State College the four-star is once again high on the Nittany Lions.
"Any time I go to Penn State it is fun," Baker said. "The people there are just amazing. There's just something about that place. I really do have a good vibe there."
Baker had made two previous visits to Penn State, but the last one came when Bill O'Brien was the head coach. This time around he got to see how the program is evolving under new head coach James Franklin.
"They are full of energy, which was great to me," Baker said. "Just being in the building you can feel the energy. Just talking to the new coaches, it makes me excited to think about Penn State. My interest is definitely there."
Another aspect of Baker's most recent visit to Penn State that differed from previous trips was getting to spend time among several of their incoming freshman. He particularly clicked with safety Marcus Allen.
"Talking to him, it was exciting," Baker said. "I never met the players in the class ahead of me, so that was pretty exciting just to see their energy and excitement. I was talking to them and asking questions. The whole conversation I had all those guys was amazing."
Baker had originally planned to follow up his Saturday visit to Penn State by traveling to Michigan State on Sunday, but that trip did not materialize.
"I ended up leaving a few minutes early from Penn State because I was getting sick, so I didn't go to Michigan State the day after," he said. "Hopefully I'll get back up in the spring time. I'll possibly get up there for a spring practice."
Baker does not have any other visits scheduled, but is looking towards the spring to see other schools.
"I am still discussing with my dad about a Florida trip over spring break," Baker said. "I have a great relationship with coach (D.J.) Durkin, so I'd definitely like to do that."
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Baker is a four-star prospect ranked as the No. 28 overall player in the Rivals100 presented by Under Armour.
