Moss Point, Miss. cornerback C.J. Bailey performed well at several camps this summer and raised his stock. He's managed to pick up two Division I offers already and has interest from other big time schools.
"I don't have any new offers right now, Southern Miss and Louisiana-Lafayette are still my two offers right now," Bailey said. "I thought I was going to get an offer from LSU, but after I went to camp they said I was too short and that they like their corners to be 6-foot or taller. They said they really liked my athletic ability though and that they were going to keep recruiting me, but they couldn't offer until they saw what some other guys did."
The 5-foot-10, 187-pound Bailey runs the 40-yard dash in 4.45 seconds, has a 245-pound bench press and 405-pound squat.
"Right now my top three schools are Alabama, LSU and Southern Miss," Bailey said. "Southern Miss is close to home so my family can some see me play. I really like the coaching staff and tradition at Alabama. I like what LSU is all about and it's only about two hours from home."
On the offensive side of the ball Bailey plays quarterback and threw for over 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns.
"There are a lot of schools that want me to visit, so I will be taking some of those this fall," Bailey said. "No matter what I want to talk to my parents after each visit, because they are going to factor into my decision."
Bailey is ranked as the No. 30 prospect in the state of Mississippi.
"I want to go somewhere that I am wanted," Bailey said. "That is why I will probably go to the school that recruits me the hardest because I want to go somewhere that I am wanted. If that is the case then that means I may have a chance to play early."
