Bacon having a big season

Gardena (Calif.) Serra linebacker/defensive end Sean Bacon came into his senior season with little fanfare on the national recruiting scene, but the 6-3, 215-pound prospect is now catching the eye of college coaches with his play this fall.
"Compared to my junior year I'm doing a lot better. For one, I'm starting this year and I've gotten bigger, stronger and faster. I'm making more tackles and sacks and I'm starting to learn more about the game and watching film.

"Even off the field, I'm getting good grades right now, my family's good and everything's going good. It always feels good to improve and I feel that I am going to get a scholarship somewhere."
Serra is a perfect 8-0 on the season and Bacon has totaled 55 tackles, nine sacks and a forced fumble on the season playing both the defensive end and linebacker positions.
"This year I am standing up more because I am trying to play linebacker in college and teams need film of me standing up at linebacker," Bacon said.
Bacon's production on the field has led to more interest from college coaches. He has yet to pick up his first offer, but based on his conversations with several schools, that first one may not be far off in the future.
"It's going to be out of Oregon State, San Diego State and Iowa State. They all have been calling me a lot," Bacon said. "A lot of schools have been talking about offering me like Iowa State, Washington State, San Diego State, Oregon State and also UNLV.
"Arizona just called me last week on Thursday talking about they wanted to offer, but they wanted to see more film on me. I just made a highlight film with my coach and am going to send it off."
Bacon has attended several games at UCLA this fall and he also took in a San Diego State game earlier in the season. He has not heard much from the Bruins at this point, but he really likes what he has seen from San Diego State thus far in the process.
"San Diego State has a good education," Bacon said. "They have what I want to major in which is Business Economics and their football team is looking good also. That's my main team right there."
