Back home for Keiland

Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military running back Keiland Williams has been upfront during the recruiting process about his affection for LSU. As one Hargrave teammate told me, he just talks to the coaches there like he's already a part of the team. However, a very impressive Southern Cal visit a week ago started to sprinkle some doubt on this decision. Was the trip enough to sway the five-star tailback?

The simple answer to that question, in my opinion, is no. The USC running back situation has to look attractive to the 6-foot-0, 215-pounder who is announcing his decision (tentatively scheduled for 8:45 a.m. CST today on Rivals.com). And current teammate and friend Vidal Hazelton has likely been in his ear recently about joining him out in sunny L.A., but home cooking is tough to overcome.

Williams hails from Louisiana, played high school ball in state and has been a longtime follower of the LSU program and getting back home has to be too much to pass up. While getting away to Virginia has been a learning and maturing process for the talented running back, home is where the heart is and I think LSU is a lead pipe lock in this one.

Look for Williams to battle for playing time early as a Tiger as he's physically and mentally ready to contribute. Williams has excellent size, but his speed is what separates him from others. If he gets to the outside, despite his 215-pound frame, he's gone.

Keiland finished his year at Hargrave with 1,325 yards on 160 rushing attempts with 12 touchdowns playing against college-aged players and was arguably the best running back on the Hargrave team (Alabama commitment Mike Ford is also a five-star).LSU is getting a good one.
