Back feels close to SEC offer

Lincolnton (Ga.) Lincoln County running back Darell Norman is rated as one of the top all-purpose backs in the Southeast and feels like he is closing in on a scholarship offer from a Southeastern Conference program.
"Recruiting is going pretty good," Norman said, "I'm close to an offer from South Carolina. I got an offer from UAB last week. I may get an offer from Georgia soon."

Thus far, the 5-foot-9, 183-pounder has attended football games at South Carolina and UGA.
"I went to the Florida Atlantic-South Carolina game," he said. "It was a pretty good environment. I went to the Western Kentucky-Georgia game. I liked it. It was the same thing, a pretty good environment."
Cincinnati, Ball State and UAB have extended scholarship offers to Norman.
"They are all right," he said. I am looking to go bigger than that."
Norman is being recruited by Ron Cooper for South Carolina. Should he receive a scholarship offer from the Gamecocks, he may join their recruiting class for this year.
"I probably would commit," he said. "Ron Cooper is a good guy. They are talking to me as an athlete. I can play defense, offense, in the slot.
"They are supposed to come down and look at one of my games the week they play Tennessee or something."
Norman also will take a look at Valdosta State and Georgia Southern.
Norman is the nation's No. 10 all-purpose running back prospect and is the No. 41 overall prospect in the state of Georgia.
