Baber hoping for Big 10 offer

Dameon Baber recently backed off his Oregon State pledge but he said the Beavers remain one of the top teams in his recruitment.
The Palmdale, Calif., three-star prospect is even more focused on landing a Big 10 offer as he seemingly wants to follow coach Mike Riley to [tmNebraska[/tm]. If the Huskers offer in the final weeks before National Signing Day, it sounds like they could be tough to beat.

"Oregon State is still on my list," Baber said. "Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Nebraska and San Jose State recently called but no offers yet. I'm really considering Nebraska if they offer.
"I really had a good connection with coach Riley and the coaching staff. He had big plans for me at Oregon State and he said he still has big plans for me if they had a scholarship for me."
Baber, who could play running back, wide receiver or defensive back, is not certain where he stands with Nebraska at this point but he's keeping a close eye on the situation and is hopeful an offer comes through soon.
The Palmdale standout has even gone as far as to talk with Nebraska commit Matt Snyder, a three-star tight end from San Ramon (Calif.) California who had also been committed to Oregon State, about what he thinks of it in Lincoln.
There's no question Baber is highly interested in Nebraska especially after Snyder's comments. Now it's the waiting game to see if an offer comes.
"I haven't been able to visit but I talk to a guy who is committed there, Matt Snyder, and he tells me it's great there," Baber said.
In his senior season, Baber rushed for 992 yards and 15 touchdowns on 137 carries. He also finished with two interceptions.
