Babb ready to prove himself

Alliance, Ohio, athlete/quarterback Charles Babb broke all of Len Dawson's passing records in his 2005 season and he's back for more in 2006. But when he plays football in 2007 on the next level it might be at another position.
"A few schools want to see me play defense," Babb, who is 6-foot and 190 pounds, said. "It doesn't matter, I can play either. I just don't know how good I am yet. I will player cornerback this year."

After throwing for 1,418 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2005 some school might be willing to give him a shot at quarterback. He's getting interest from Northwestern, Boston College, Miami of Ohio, Toledo, Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan.
"Northwestern's coach said I was in the next shuffle of getting offered," he said. "If someone commits some place else that I would get an offer.
"Most want me to work out for them before they offer. A lot of schools say that if I come to their camp and if things go good then I'd get an offer. They like my film just want to see me in person."
There's a lot to like because Babb is a great athlete that should be able to make a transition to another position if things don't work out at quarterback. To help maximize his exposure this summer, he's going to go with other top Ohio prospects on the Ted Ginn summer bus tour.
At the recent Columbus NIKE Training Camp, Babb ran a 4.66-second 40-yard dash, did 17 repetitions in the bench press and ran a 4.5-second time in the shuttle. He plans on working hard this summer so he can become a better player.
"I just want to win games, make the younger players better and help build the program," he said. "I am really excited about this year, just can't wait."
