AZ corner enjoys official visit

Chandler (Ariz.) Basha defensive back Quinn Evans took his first official visi this past weekend to Stanford. There are a few other schools in the mix but the Cardinal are in a good position right now.
Evans, 5-10, 170 pounds is a talented player who really shined at the NIKE Camp in Purdue last Spring. He's one of the top cover corners in the West this year and shows excellent feet and hips. He's already very polished for a high school corner and should make a smooth transition when he hits college.

On the recruiting front, Stanford was the first to offer Evans a scholarship and the athlete took an official visit this past weekend.
"I had a great time, Stanford is a pretty special place," Evans said. "We had a Thursday game last week so I was able to get out there Friday afternoon and spend the whole weekend there.
"On Friday, I sat in on some of the team meetings, watch some game film with the guys and then went out to dinner with the guys. That night, the team watched the movie We Are Marshall and then I went out with some of the guys. We didnt' stay out too late since it was the night before the game but it was fun hanging out and meeting everyone there.
"Saturday, I took a tour of the campus, spent a lot of time in the Career Center and sat in on some more team meetings. I also talked with the coaches and also ate lunch with the guys. It was a 7:00 game so I got to spent a lot of the time with the guys and see how they prepare for a game.
"After lunch, we headed over to the locker room and I just hung back and took in all of the pre-game stuff there. I got to go down on the field before the game and then moved in to the stands when the game started. It was a really exciting game. I was rooting for Stanford and they played really well in the 1st half but it looked like they let down a little in the second half and Oregon kind of pulled away from them.
"Richard Sherman was my host and he took me around that night. We hung out in his dorm with some of the other players and just relaxed. Sunday, I met with some of the professors there, talked more with the coaches and then headed back home.
"Overall, it was a great trip. Stanford is incredible and I would love to go there but I still need to finish up my application and send that in. I'm still trying to set up a trip with Northwestern but it has been tough getting our schedules to match up. I don't know if we have any more Thursday games, the rest are on Friday so we just need to find a good weekend that fits both of us.
"Ohio State is still calling every week asking for film and I'm hearing from Arizona State too. That's mainly it. So far, things are good and I'm looking forward to playing the process out and seeing what happens."
