Statistics: Gustavis had 33 pancake blocks and had only gave 2 ½ sacks his junior year.
Honors: Gustavis was an all-state and all-CIF selection as a junior.
Favorite Schools: According to North Torrance head coach Todd Croce; Gustavis will get his first offer from Colorado in May. Stanford, USC (went there for junior day), Cal, ASU, and Michigan are also recruiting Gustavis hard.
The Skinny: “Robert was very good in the one-on-one drills at the Nike camp last Saturday,” Croce said. “The only player that really gave him a challenge was Lawrence Jackson.” Jackson, of course, is the stellar defensive end from Inglewood, Calif., and he’s one of the top prospects the Golden State has to offer.
Gustavis has a great frame for the next level. He will be able to add weight without missing a step. Gustavis is one of those linemen that will blossom on the next level.
“We had record setting numbers Robert’s junior season,” Croce said. “We set records for points and offensive yards. Robert was our go to guy that we ran behind.”
He’s a tremendous pass blocker as well. Gustavis as a weak side tackle also protects the quarterback’s back. “Robert’s feet and long arms are his best assets,” Croce said. “He can handle the quick guys because of his feet and the big guys because of his size.”
