Austin Collie Pulls the Trigger

One of the top multi-purpose threats on the football field this fall, Austin Collie of Oak Ridge High in El Dorado Hills, Calif., made his decision last night, according to his father, Scott Collie.
"He committed to BYU Wednesday night during a home visit with the coaches,"the father, who himself was a standout receiver at BYU, told CalHiSports.com this morning.

Collie will be an all-state pick when the CalHiSports.com team is announced in the near future.
For the second year in a row, Collie helped lead the Trojans to a Div. II CIF Section championship as the school finished in the CalHiSports.com Top 20 in the Golden State.
In 13 games as a senior, Collie was outstanding on offense, defense and on
special teams: he had 60 receptions for 976 yards despite constant double
and triple coverage and also had 32 carries for 305 yards (9.5 ave.) as a
tailback.
All told, he had 23 TDS--18 receiving--and also was dangerous at safety and
corner, returning kicks and even place kicking, going 7/7 on field goals and
converting 35 of 42 PATs.
But it's as a receiver that he had offers from BYU, Stanford, Colorado, ASU,
Washington State, Arizona, Utah and UNLV, among others.
Collie had already tripped to UNLV and ASU (last weekend), but BYU (LDS
faith and brother, Zach, playing there) won out over Stanford's academics
and closeness to home.
At last spring's NorCal NIKE Football Training Camp, ironically held at
Stanford, the California standout opened a lot of coaches' eyes when he
measured in at 6-1, 183 pounds, ran a 4.51 in the 40 and had the event's
second best vertical with a jump of 36.3 inches.
