Cincinnati (Ohio) Hills Christian Academy four-star defensive end Prince Sammons kept his recruitment very close to the vest, but revealed earlier than expected on National Signing Day that he is headed to the SEC to play for the Auburn Tigers.

A four-star prospect ranked as the No. 20 strongside defensive end in the 2016 class, Sammons had planned to announce his commitment at 2:30 pm ET, but sent his fax to the Auburn coaches early Wednesday morning.

"He has decided to go (to Auburn)," his father, Brandon Sammons, reported. "We are thrilled!"

Sammons had narrowed his list of contenders down to a final four that also included Duke, Michigan State and Oregon. He did not make his official visit to Auburn until the final weekend in January, but it was a visit that obvious left a strong impression.

“We feel the Auburn coaches are a perfect fit,” Brandon Sammons told AuburnSports.com following the visit.

The 6-foot-6, 260-pound Sammons came to the United States from Nigeria just a few years ago and only picked up the game of football in high school. He is a talented, but raw prospect who could also project to the offensive line in college.
