Auburn showing interest in Memphis 3-star WR

Playing on a high school team that struggled through last season hasn't slowed down recruiting for three-star Memphis (Tenn.) Melrose wide receiver Johnathon Johnson. The talented playmaker continues to get interest from several SEC programs, including last year's conference champions.
"I've been hearing a lot from Auburn," Johnson said. "They're telling me that they want me to come down for their spring game and they just want to sit down and check up with me."

Johnson, who thrives as a slot receiver, said he's very intrigued by Auburn's offensive attack.
"I like the offense, it's very explosive," he said. "They want me to come up there to show me how I might fit in."
Johnson already has offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee and others but said he thinks he'll have to display his talents in order for the Tigers to pull the trigger.
"I think I might have to camp there and show what I can really do before they give me an offer," he said. "So we'll see if I can make it there this summer."
Both Mississippi school continue to work on Johnson, with Mississippi State being the most active.
"They're talking to me a lot," Johnson said. "They told me that they want me to keep doing what I'm doing and everything will work out."
Over the past few years Mississippi State has done a great job of recruiting Memphis and Johnson said that helps the school's standing with him.
"I just know how much they recruit Memphis and how many guys from the city end up there," Johnson said. "So that makes me interested in what they have to say."
