Auburn on top for DE Lawson

To say it has been an amazing few months for Rivals100 defensive end Carl Lawson of Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton would be a severe understatement.
When the year began, he was offerless.

Today, he has so many offers he has a hard time keeping track of them all.
"It's crazy," Lawson said. "I can't even tell you how many I have. It's over 20. Those are just the ones I report. There also are a lot of schools that contact me and tell me they want me."
Right now, one program leads.
"Auburn," Lawson said. "Even though they were the second school to offer me (UCLA was first), I was recruited by Auburn first. I just really like Coach [Mike] Pelton and Coach [Gene] Chizik. I really love the people down there. I like the school a lot."
Thus far, Lawson has visited Auburn twice. He also has been to Alabama, Florida and Georgia Tech.
"Auburn and Florida stood out," Lawson said. "I really like the coaching staff at Auburn. And at Florida, I liked the town. I also liked the coaching staff. It was real nice down there."
Next up for Lawson are likely visits this spring to Auburn and Florida again, Clemson, Florida State, Ole Miss and Tennessee. This summer, he'd like to check out UCLA and Southern California, two schools he said he's "definitely interested" in visiting.
A commitment might not come until next fall.
"I kind of want to take my officials to California first," Lawson said. "I want to get it done this summer, but you can't take officials in the summer."
