Long Beach (Miss.) defensive end Xavier Mitchell has added a new scholarship offer to the table this spring.
“Auburn offered me last weekend,” he said. “I’ve got five offers now – Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Southern Miss.”
And how does he feel about the Tigers’ program?
“I like them quite a bit,” he said. “They’ve got a great football program with a lot of tradition, but the thing that really has me interested is the engineering program. That’s going to be important in my decision.”
Mitchell (6-3, 245, 4.8) said he’s also receiving heavy interest from Tennessee and South Carolina.
“I don’t have any favorite right now,” he said. “I like all of those schools who have offered me. I like Tennessee and South Carolina, too. I need to learn more about all of them.
“I know I definitely want to play in the SEC. I feel like that’s the best level of competition in the nation.”
Mitchell, who has recorded 27 sacks in his prep career, said he plans to camp at Ole Miss, LSU and Southern Miss this summer.
