Auburn offers Georgia RB, moves up his list

Auburn sent linebackers coach Travis Williams into Georgia to recruit Friday and before he left Clarke Central, Jonathan Sewell had an offer from the Tigers.

The 5-foot-11, 185 pound junior already held offers from Charlotte, Ole Miss and South Carolina, so the offer from Auburn gives him four. It is a big one.

"It feels great to have an offer from Auburn and I like them a lot," said Sewell. "I went there for a camp in the summer and we have been talking to me since. I knew they liked me, but I was surprised by the offer.

"Auburn is high on my list now."

Sewell and Williams have talked many times and he knows Auburn likes his style at running back and how he could fit into their scheme. After the offer, when Sewell spoke to Williams again, the message was to just keep doing what he is doing on and off the field.

Since the camp over the summer, Sewell has not been back on the Plains. He is ready to return now. He plans to attend the Georgia and Alabama games later this season.

He is excited about seeing game-day at Auburn. He knows some other things he lies already.

"I like the Auburn offense and I like the relationship I have with their coaches," said Sewell. "They also treat me like I am already one of their own, so that stands out to me too."

Sewell sees Kerryon Johnson having a big season in 2017 and if he goes there, Auburn feels he could make some of those same type of plays.

"Coach Williams has told me that he likes my break-away speed and he feels I am a home run guy when I get the ball."

South Carolina was the leader early for Sewell, but this offer puts the Tigers right there with the Gamecocks on Sewell's list.
