Auburn offers four-star Kentucky OL

Mayfield (Ky.) is home to one of the South’s hottest O-Line prospects in Micah Jones.
The four-star offensive tackle says he just received his seventh major scholarship offer.

“Auburn sent me a letter and told me they wanted me to get in touch with them as soon as possible,” he said. “I talked to my recruiting coordinator, coach Don Dunn, and he said he wanted me to talk to coach Tuberville and their O-Line coach. They were letting me know that I had a scholarship offer.”
Jones (6-5, 336, 5.15) also has offers from Kentucky, Georgia, Michigan, Ole Miss, Louisville and Arkansas.
So how do the Tigers stack up with the previous schools on his list?
“Pretty well,” he said. “Actually, real well. I don’t have a top five or anything like that, but Auburn is up there. They look like they’re going to have a dominant team this year. They also told me they’ve got two tackles and two offensive guards leaving after this year, so that opened my eyes. I think I’d have a pretty good chance to go there and compete for playing time.”
He received an offer from Georgia after a strong camp showing in Athens late this summer.
"I had a great time down there," Jones said. "Coach Calloway, their O-Line coach, was really nice. He seemed to be really high on me. They told me they'd be coming to see me play this season."
Kentucky is thought to be the leader in the recruiting race, and rumors of a forthcoming commitment have been swirling around the Bluegrass State, but Jones is stopping short of naming the Wildcats his top choice.
“They’re up there high,” he said. “But I’m not ready to make a decision or anything like that. Joker Phillips is supposed to come down to our team’s preseason dinner and speak. I’m looking forward to seeing him again.”
Jones, who combines tremendous size with surprisingly quick feet, helped pave the way to Mayfield’s Class A championship as a junior. He anchored a line that produced 3,031 rushing yards.
He is expected to be a full-qualifier. He received a 21 on the ACT, and is trying to improve on a 2.3 core GPA as a senior.
