Auburn jumps in on Florida lineman

Last Friday, Auburn had a coach at Strawberry Crest High School for a spring jamboree. During that event, Seffner (Fla.) Armwood dominated Plant City (Fla.) 21-0 in a half of football. The Armwood offense, which is loaded with weapons, has a steady force at offensive tackle in Kevin McCoy. Apparently, the Tigers liked what they saw from McCoy.
"Auburn University offered me today," McCoy said.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pound offensive lineman shared what he heard from Auburn today.
"I talked with Coach B (Jay Boulware) today," McCoy said. "Coach B, that is what he told me to call him. He said that they just found out about me that day when they were down here for our spring game (last Friday). He said he was looking at me the whole time and that he definitely liked what he saw. He said they were offering me."
Auburn joins Eastern Michigan, Florida, Indiana, and South Florida in offering McCoy. McCoy said he was blown away to land an offer from the reigning National Champions.
"That is a huge deal," McCoy said. "I have an offer from UF, but Auburn was just in the BCS Championship game this past year. I guess that just goes to show how well I am playing. I am excited to see what other schools are going to offer me in the future."
Despite the new offer, the local school who has been the most consistent in showing McCoy attention retains the top spot.
"South Florida is still in the lead," McCoy said. "I am going to listen to what everybody has to say though."
McCoy has set no timetable for a decision.
