Georgia RB commits to Auburn

Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson running back Deondre Jackson recently saw a couple of teammates in his class (2020) commit to Alabama and Georgia and he is ready to put his name on a commitment list too.

He picked up an offer from Auburn less than a week ago and he has committed to the Tigers.

"I told coach [Terry] Porter tonight that I wanted to commit to Auburn," said Jackson. "I committed to them because I like the program and coaches a lot. They have also had various good backs come out of the program and it is close to home.

"I visited there in the spring and I like the vibe they have down there. It is great."

Some may wonder why Jackson is committing so early in the recruiting process. He recently added an offer from Ohio State and Maryland offered him earlier today, but he just feels he knows where he wants to be in the future.

"Well why wait," Jackson said when asked about the timing of his commitment. "Auburn is the school I feel can help me most growing as an student-athlete and I can already see myself putting on that Auburn uniform."

Jackson is the second 2020 prospect to commit to Auburn. Lagrange (Ga.) Troup County defensive lineman Andy Boykin was first.
