APHARETTA, Ga. -- Auburn commit Jalil Irvin uses the word “cordial” when discussing his recruitment. It’s not a one-time use, either. Instead, he repeats it. The Rivals250 offensive lineman sees it as the best way to sum up his relationships with other colleges at this juncture.

Is he looking for a new home? Not in the slightest. Irvin is happy with his standing as a Tiger commit. It’s just that he’s not totally shutting down advances from other programs.

Like Irvin says, “cordial.”

“I’m just really being cordial with schools for right now,” Irvin said on Sunday. “I’ll probably take a couple more visits.”

As for spring visits, Irvin doesn’t have destinations in mind. When it comes time to take his officials this fall, however, the story will be different. Already, the Auburn commit is kicking around possible destinations for trips that will see somebody else foot the bill.

“I know for sure an official to Auburn,” Hill said. “Then, I’ll probably go to Oregon. Well, either Oregon or UCLA. It’ll be one of those two. Then, probably UNC.”

Until then, “cordial” will continue to be the word. Irvin will sit back, take the occasion unofficial visit and otherwise let colleges come to him. Prying the lineman away from the Tigers won’t be easy, but that’s unlikely to stop people from trying.

“I know a couple schools say they are going to come see me in spring,” Irvin said. “Ohio State, Texas, Clemson and Alabama say they’re coming. I’m just being cordial with all of them.”

RIVALS REACTION: Irvin has a cousin that attended Oregon and says his visit is based mostly on curiosity about the Ducks’ football facilities, which he’s heard plenty about. Oregon is not seen as a real threat to Auburn in this situation. If Irvin flips, it will likely be to a school that is yet to offer. Overtures from Ohio State, Alabama or the like could possibly make things interesting.
