ATLANTA – Indian River (Va.) Chesapeake safety Devon Hunter owns one of the most distinguished offer lists in the 2017 class, and the time is coming when he will pare it down to a top group of schools. Before that happens, though, the Rivals100 prospect has a few more campus visits he plans to take this summer.
THE LATEST: Immediately after returning from Atlanta for the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour, Hunter will visit Auburn and Clemson. The trip to Auburn will take place Sunday, June 12 and this will be the Virginia native’s first time on the Tiger’s campus. He will then drive to Clemson on Monday for his second visit during the recruiting process to see Dabo Swinney and Co.
IN HIS WORDS: “With Auburn, I really don’t know much about them so I’d love to give them an opportunity to get to know them, meet the coaches and get to know the system. Clemson, they were my favorite school since I was little. I basically want to build our bond, our relationship (on this visit) and get more comfortable with them.”
RIVALS’ REACTION: Hunter plans to trim his list sometime in August, shortly before his senior season begins with a decision coming before Christmas. That cut could include 10 or fewer schools, and the four-star said Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Virginia Tech and USC are likely to make the cut. Florida is the school he visited most recently, traveling to Gainesville earlier this spring for a visit he said was “a great experience for me.”
